Real-World Evidence for Guiding Product Commercialization

Overview

DBH collaborated with a diversified Fortune 500 life sciences company, analyzing real-world data in a partner US research institute to inform competitive positioning, reimbursement, and widespread provider adoption. The client’s product was a molecular diagnostic panel that was FDA approved for emergency use, with client plans for broader access.

Challenge Faced

Procurement of Relevant Data in a Real-World Setting. The client required a representative, large-scale evidence base to utilize as the foundation for their national, value-based commercialization effort. A broad but granular understanding of how standard of care (SoC) products compared to the client’s product, in a multitude of clinical scenarios would be required. There was a specified desire to focus on improvements to both hospital efficiency and patient outcomes.

Dream Big Health's Solution

We were able to use our expertise in clinical data informatics to extract and evaluate relevant longitudinal data. Patient-level data that was assessed included: symptomatology, vital signs, laboratory results, medication administration, disease progression, and mortality. System-level data included LOS, admission to ED and ICU, specialist referral, time to test, time to diagnosis, medical equipment usage, and support services.

DBH provided a comprehensive report of the most pertinent data elements, tailored to the client’s specific commercialization goals. The report included straightforward visual representations of data, statistical tests of association, primary (and alternative) interpretation of trends, and recommended value narratives built directly from the data.

Impact to Client

The real-world data that DBH was able to mine and evaluate was used effectively by the client as the centerpiece for designing key components of their market expansion initiative, including value messaging, content development, and pricing strategy.
